An Important Conversation -- Talking With the Biblical Prophets in the Qu'ran -- Adam benShea -- In Collaboration With Congregation Beth David
LLCC and Congregation Beth David in San Luis Obispo are offering their first course in collaboration with each other. All are welcome to come and hear this speaker.
Biblical prophets speak through the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam. This course in comparative religion will explore many surprising similarities and parallels between two world faiths - Islam and Judaism - at a time when they are seemingly locked in irreparable conflict. Your instructor Adam BenShea will provide textural and historical elements to his explanation in order for you to have a better understanding about the links between the two religions.
Adam benShea is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Philosophy Department at Cal Poly. He has taught courses in Introduction to Islam; Introduction to Judaism; World Religions; History of the Middle East (Ancient, Medieval, and Modern); Life of Muhammad; Islam and Politics; Arab/Israeli Conflict; Comparative Sacred Texts; The Qur'an; Religion and Violence; Religion and Society.
