Asiemut
Asiemut chronicles the 8000 km journey of young French Canadians Olivier Higgins and Mélanie Carrier. Riding their bicycles and pedaling through Asia, Olivier and Mélanie traveled from Mongolia to Kolkata, at the mouth of the Ganges in India, passing through Xinjiang, the Taklamakan Desert, Tibet and Nepal. Along the way, they discover the world, but over all, they discover themselves. Who are they? What do they want? What is their place in this world? Maybe, between the encounters, obstacles and the discovery, this daring journey made them reflex... Do we not all have a common "Asiemut"?
The idea behind Asiemut was to produce a film, which would allow the viewers to think about the basis of our society, more precisely our own role in it. By traveling with Melanie and Olivier, on bikes across Mongolia, China, Tibet and India, the spectator would live their adventure: the adventure of simplicity, the one of two western nomads, sharing their thoughts and valuesâ¦
A quest for balance, respect, love, friendship, anger, joy of life⦠The adventure is a medium to talk about various issues, such as culture, traditions, western society and the pursuit of happinessâ¦
Asiemut is the winner of 35 International Films Festival awards and a part of the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour since 2007. Numerous Public Choice Awards & Jury's Grand Prize including the prestigious "Oscar of the Oscars" amongst all the winning mountain & adventure films in 2007-2008, given in Cervino, Italy
