In 'Thinking Out Loud', the acclaimed, all-female dance company features original choreography by JKDC Founder and Artistic Director Joyce King. Described as 'Dramatic Contemporary', JKDC explores King's newest work, 'Per.cept.Shun'- the tour through seven women's internal prison, reflecting on apprehension and the euphoria of 'what if?'- supported by the heartfelt and original music of ardent cello composer, Zoe Keating.
The night also includes King's new and revised works of, 'Com.Part.Men.tal.Eyes', (part of a larger work, 'Threw the FOG', to be premiered in 2016) that probes into the dynamism and complex nature of mental disorders - enhanced by the original music of composer Kevin Keller.
As part of JKDC's mission, we are happy to continue to offer opportunities for young emerging dancers. Joyce King's "LISTEn (an excerpt)", a large ensemble flight into the realm of the imagination, felt like a force of nature. -- Jamie Townsend/Explore Dance- 2014
For Designs: King collaborates for the second time with Deborah Erenberg, who savors the challenge of creating costumes that encourages and accentuates movement, while keeping a unified mood and aesthetic, intensified by the lighting designs of Serena Wong.
