31st Annual Seattle International StandUp Comedy Competition
The Seattle International Comedy Competition is an annual multi-week touring comedy festival-slash-elimination contest for professional comedians.
32 comedians from all across North America perform in shows held in comedy clubs, casinos and theaters in the Pacific Northwest throughout the month of November.
Contestants perform 5 minute long sets in one of two preliminary weeks,consisting of six shows in six venues over six nights. The top five from each preliminary week will meet in the semi-finals week, which requires them to perform 8-12 minute long sets for another six shows. The top five from the semi-finals move on to the finals. In the finals, they will perform 15-20 minute long sets in five more showsâ\^'and, a winner is crowned.
Over $15,000 in cash prizes are awarded, with the winner receiving $5000, comedy club bookings, and a one-year recording contract with Uproar Entertainment, the country's premier all-comedy record label.
2007 winner Marcus went on to be runner-up on NBC's "Last Comic Standing;" 2008 winner Tommy was also the 2009 Boston Comedy Festival champ; and 2009 winner Sean Kent can currently be seen on the Showtime special "Green Comedy."
The Tour makes its second-ever stop in Greys Harbor County on Saturday
