We are thrilled to announce the Destiny Arts Center sponsored Oakland premiere of F*R*E*E, the award-winning documentary that journeys behind the curtain to spotlight the intimate stories of five teenagers in the Destiny Arts Youth Performance Company.
Filmed by an Academy Award-nominated director, F*R*E*E captures the raw beauty and powerful grace of a dance/theater company for East Bay youth. This uplifting documentary showcases art's ability to transform violence, poverty and isolation.
In November, F*R*E*E was named Audience Favorite at the Mill Valley Film Festival. This will be the first time the film has been shown in Oakland (at the iconic Grand Lake Theatre, no less!). It's a unique opportunity for the Destiny community to see the film and talk with its creators.
Please join us in this special premier on March 19th, 7:00 pm at the Grand Lake Theater. You'll be treated to a short performance by the company and lively discussion with the film's directors, Suzanne La Fetra and David Collier. Bonus: Meet the cast of this year's performance, WARRIOR.
