The New Esterházy Quartet plays music "Dedicated to Haydn"
Barefoot Chamber Concerts continues its mission to help you start the weekend right. This Friday evening concert series is committed to musical excellence without the formality of the conventional concert setting. Concerts start at 6 p.m. and last 60-75 minutes without intermission. Light refreshments are available, and there will be ample time to move on to other evening entertainments.
On Friday May 13, 2011, Barefoot is lucky to be able to present the Bay Area's leading period instrument string quartet, the New Esterházy Quartet playing a program of quartets "Dedicated to Haydn".
The New Esterházy Quartet are fresh from the triumphs of their celebrated performances of the complete cycle of Haydn quartets, and this new program will simply round out that experience for musicians and audience alike. Quartets by Mozart and his contemporaries dedicated to "Papa Haydn", "the father of the string quartet" means a program you just can't miss.
