Path of Beauty: Singing the Grand Canyon
Sound Circle, the 16-voice Boulder-based women's a cappella ensemble, will collaborate with photographer Christopher Brown to offer Path of Beauty: Singing the Grand Canyon. Additional collaborators include harpist Christine Tulis with percussionist Kem Stralka, Southwestern singer/songwriter Becky Reardon, and Tree Andrew playing Native American flute.
The goal of this performance, which will be a continuous flow of song, soundscape, and visual imagery, is to offer the audience a contemplative journey through the Grand Canyon.
Music by composers including Malcolm Dalglish, Bobby McFerrin, Bill Douglas, Kimmerjae Makarus, Mary Ellen Childs, Becky Reardon, and Joan Szymko; poetry by Joy Harjo, and more, will intertwine with improvisational material and soundscape.
First performed in May, 2010 at the Broomfield Auditorium.
