Tanya Tomkins plays Bach's music for solo Cello
Barefoot Chamber Concerts continues its mission to help you start the weekend right. This Friday evening concert series is committed to musical excellence without the formality of the conventional concert setting. Concerts start at 6 p.m. and last 60-75 minutes without intermission. Light refreshments are available, and there will be ample time to move on to other evening entertainments.
On Friday February 25, 2011, Barefoot will present Tanya Tomkins playing Bach's suites for unaccompanied cello.
Ms. Tomkins, who combines "the greatest possible perfection and power of expression" is co-principal of Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and the Portland Baroque Orchestra, has played as soloist with many American and European Orchestras, and maintains a busy schedule as a chamber musician. Her interpretations of the Bach suites, unique masterpieces of the repertoire for solo cello, have become legendary. This will be a concert to remember.
