APRIL 2: CLAIRE ROCHE, IRISH HARPIST

Thursday, April 2 at 7 pm, we are pleased to present Claire Roche.

Claire Roche is an enchanting singer harpist based in Co. Dublin Ireland who has been composing, arranging, recording and performing songs accompanied by harps, and sometimes piano, for over 45 years.

Claire's performs a mix of original songs, poetry songs set to music, a few sacred songs and, of course, one or two traditional Irish 'come all ye' songs for everyone to join in with. Claire's own original songs share intimacy with nature, passion, longing, and explores our mysteries of life.

After concerts, many people from the audience describe Claire's songs and music as being similar to Loreena McKennett, Kate Bush, Enya, and Moya Breenan, due to her enchanting singing and warm intimate charisma. Some people have stretched to comparing Claire to sometimes being like Bjork and even Nina Simone, after Claire has performed some of her more soulful and gritty songs.

Claire has performed 6 tours around the USA, 9 tours around Australia and New Zealand, and special concerts around Europe. She has opened for The Chieftains and The Fureys and has released 6 albums of recordings.

Performing with Claire will be John Willmott, now aka Woodland Bard, John is based in Co. Sligo, north west of Ireland and has lived a wandering life of passion with forests, woodlands, spring wells and natural water. He expresses and shares all of this as a poet, storyteller, folk dramatist, writer, composer, woodland activist, tree labyrinth keeper, coach and guide. John became nicknamed the 'Woodland Bard', after sharing stories and poetry inspired by 'revelations and inspirations' during the experience of a major stroke, a few years ago.
