Team Up for Nonprofits' mission is to build capacity for nonprofit organizations by cultivating a new generation of engaged supporters through the power of music and social media. Our Gigs4Good benefits raise funds and awareness for the nonprofits we partner with and provide an entertaining and accessible opportunity for people to support organizations making a difference. This will be our last event for 2010 and the proceeds will fund Team Up's activities in 2011, a year where we anticipate producing even more Gigs4Good events, hosting even more great musical talents, and helping even more nonprofits who are doing great work in our communities.
Grand Hallway is singer/multi-instrumentalist Tomo Nakayama and a cast of some of Seattle's finest musicians. Their lush, melodic chamber pop songs evoke influences such as Andrew Bird, Sigur Ros, and Nina Simone. Since their inception in 2006, Grand Hallway have self-released two full-lengths (2007's "Yes is the Answer" and 2009's "Promenade"), and an EP ("We Flew Ephemera", 2008). They have honed their dynamic live show with multiple tours of the US and Japan, sold-out shows at local venues and performed at Sasquatch, Bumbershoot, and the 2010 SXSW Festival, building a solid and loyal fan base along the way.
Lindsay Fuller (playing acoustic for this show with Rebecca Young) is an Alabama-born, Seattle-based singer-songwriter. She is a gorgeous-sounding, emotionally moving performer whose sound combines Gillian Welch's folk eloquence with some country twang and a dose of Nick Cave-style darkness. Fuller's voice has a burnished, soulful trill that sounds like the frame of a beautiful old church that's about to collapse on itself, it is one heck of a singular instrument. In November Lindsay and her band will be opening for the Indigo Girls for two dates on the east coast.
The Royal Bear was founded on the concept that rock music can be fun, danceable, and catchy. They understand and are not afraid to use pop hooks, drawing inspiration from pop's past. They write songs with interesting, melodic riffs and vocal melodies that you can't help but hum to yourself.
