The Festival Consort presents Renaissance Glory
Carol Menke, soprano and Chris Fritzsche, countertenor, join instrumentalists Joanna Bramel Young, David Hogan Smith, Alan Paul and Robert Cronin in a Christmas concert of Medieval and Renaissance music. Instruments include recorders, shawms, crumhorns, curtal, sackbut, guitar and pipe & tabor. Traditional carols and Medieval songs are combined with instrumental works by Palestrina, de Cristo, Clemens non Papa, Hassler and Anonymous.
David Hogan Smith makes all of the reeds for the crumhorns and shawms, insuring that they are beautifully matched in tone. Robert Cronin has built the shawms and crutal the group plays.
