Resonance Women's Chorus: BraveSouls and Dreamers
Resonance Women's Chorus will present BraveSouls and Dreamers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, 1421 Spruce St., Boulder. A benefit performance for the Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center, this event will also feature an opening set by Bonnie Carol and Deborah Schmit-Lobos and a tribute to Howard Zinn offered by David Barsamian.
BraveSouls and Dreamers is a contemporary cantata by Robert Seeley and Robert Espindola. The text is adapted from and inspired by words of some of the world's great peacemakers and visionaries, including Jesus Christ, the Dalai Lama, Mother Theresa, and Jimmy Carter. Soloists for this performance are Nakita Kawal in the role of the Mother, Leslie Remmert Soich in the role of the Sage, and Marcus Gilliland and Josh McGirk in the roles of the two Soldiers.
This piece was commissioned by the Portland Gay Men's Chorus as a response to the war in Iraq, and premiered in 2007. Resonance performed the Colorado premiere of the piece, as well as the first performance by women's chorus, in 2009.
