The Festival Consort presents Renaissance Glory
Carol Menke, soprano and Chris Fritzsche, countertenor, join instrumentalists Joanna Bramel Young, David Hogan Smith, Alan Paul and Robert Cronin in a Christmas concert of medieval and renaissance music. Instruments include recorders, crumhorns, shawms. curtal, sackbut, guitar and pipe & tabor. The music includes traditional carols, medieval songs, and consorts of works by Palestrina, de Cristo, Clemens non Papa, Hassler and Anonymous.
The Festival has full consorts of matched instruments, all replicas of early instruments. David Hogan Smith makes all of the reeds for the shawms and crumhorns, and Robert Cronin is the builder of the shawms and curtal.
