In 1967, San Francisco experienced an extraordinary explosion of
artistic and political activity that has come to be known as the
Summer of Love. One of the most important forces in that unique
moment was the emergence of a group of brilliant rock bands,
including The Grateful Dead, Santana, Janis Joplin, Jefferson
Airplane, Sly and the Family Stone, The Steve Miller Band, Frank
Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, Jimi Hendrix, Iron Butterfly,
Vanilla Fudge, The Guess Who, and The Doors. Join Film Archivist
Bill Shelley for a very special Rock Legends Live event featuring rare
concert performances by all these legendary performers, plus a guided
tour of the Heckscher Museum of Art's exciting new exhibit "Rock
On! Masterworks of Rock Photography." This is an event that no
rock fan will want to miss! Approx. 90 min.
