Imaginary Worlds - Writing Workshop with Kirsty Logan
COURSE DESCRIPTION Does your imagination teem with magic, ghosts, sea monsters and spaceships? Do you find made-up worlds more fascinating than this humdrum existence? You can learn how to lasso your daydreams and shape them into short stories, poetry, and novels. Through informal discussion, idea generation games, and writing exercises you will improve your writing skills and create exciting, original fiction.
ABOUT KIRSTY LOGAN Kirsty Logan is a professional daydreamer. Her debut collection of stories is The Rental Heart and Other Fairytales (Salt, 2014). Her first novel, The Gracekeepers, is forthcoming in May 2015. She lives with her girlfriend and their rescue puppy in Glasgow, where she mostly reads ghost stories, drinks coffee, and dreams of the sea.
Kirsty Logan is a professional daydreamer who lives and works in Glasgow. Her debut book, The Rental Heart & Other Fairytales, won the Saboteur Award for Best Short Story Collection and was longlisted for the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award. Her second book, The Gracekeepers, a novel about a circus boat in a flooded world, will be published in the US, US and Canada in May 2015. She was awarded the inaugural Gavin Wallace Fellowship to write her third book, A Portable Shelter, a story collection inspired by Scottish folktales. She studied English Literature at Stirling University, and wrote her dissertation on retold fairytales.
