To commemorate Women's History Month, Don Beld, co-author of Civil War Quilts (2011), will discuss the beginning of women's movements in our nation: the U. S. Sanitary Commission's 1861 call for donations of supplies, including quilts, for soldier's use. Northern women made and donated between 250,000 and 400,000 quilts, of which there are only eight known survivors. Hear Beld tell the stories and share images of these quilts in advance of the opening of When Johnny Came Marching West: How the Civil War Shaped Pasadena. Advanced reservations required.
Tickets: Textile Arts Council Members $10, Members $15, General $20.
