Ilana Yaari, Warsaw Ghetto Witness
$9 members/13 public including reception
Ilana Yaari was a four-year old living in Warsaw when Germany invaded
Poland. She witnessed the transition of Warsaw from a vibrant city to a
bomb-ridden war zone to a nightmarish ghetto. Against all odds, she escaped
the ghetto just weeks before its liquidation due to the devotion of her
father and the bravery of her Polish nanny. Now, seven decades later, she
looks back on her time living in Poland under the Nazis, in post-war
communist Poland, in the newborn nation of Israel, and finally in the United
States. Like Ã,Ã,³A Film UnfinishedÃ,Ã,², Ilana Yaari has a lot to say about the way
those seeking power try to manipulate our perception of reality. She will
share with the audience her unique perspective on the scenes in the film.
Ilana Yaari is currently working on her memoirs and is starting to share her
story in public forums. She lives and works in NYC and spends much of her
free time in Huntington with her children and grandchildren.
