Artists at Play Readings Two Plays, One Day
Continuing our mission to present stories of underrepresented communities, Artists at Play will develop and showcase two new works to the Los Angeles theatre community.
1 pm THE TWO KIDS THAT BLOW SHIT UP By Carla Ching Directed by Snehal Desai Diana and Max meet at 10 years old, the day their parents start fucking. In the ensuing 18 years, their parents break up, get back together, marry and divorce. And they see each other through it all, trying not to make the same mistakes their parents did. A play about trying not to fall in love with your best friend so you end up hating them. Featuring Julia Cho and Raymond Lee.
3 pm Ticketed mid-day reception and hosted bar.
4 pm NOBODY'S CHILD By Sanaz Toossi Directed by Alejandra Cisneros When you're stuck on a train going through the desert in the Middle East, things can get heated. Especially for three prickly siblings. Oldest sister Shadi is depressed, youngest sibling Cameron is in transition, and Ani -- with a brand new nose -- is caught in the middle. Questions of identity, love, gender and body hair are raised. Razors drawn. Featuring Esther Mira, Nasi Nassiri, Joey Vahedi and Nadia Wit.
6 pm Ticketed dessert reception and hosted bar.
Each reading will be followed by a talkback.
An All-Day Pass for $15 includes access to mid-day reception, hosted bar, dessert reception and both plays.
A $9 ticket includes access to 3 pm mid-day reception and hosted bar.
Walk-up tickets are an additional $5.
Free parking is available on the street.
