FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

SYBARITE5 RETURNS HOME TO NEW YORK FOR RESIDENCIES AT the cell

OCTOBER 22-24, 2010
DECEMBER 10-12, 2010

New York-based string quintet Sybarite5 returns from its post as the Alumni Ensemble for the 2010 Aspen Music Festival to set up two residencies at the cell theatre, a 21st century salon. The first residency in October is entitled "explore/innovate/advance," when the critically acclaimed group will perform some of the most pivotal and captivating works 20th and 21st centuries.  The weekend will also mark the New York premiere of a new arrangement of Turceasca by Matt Van Brink.  In December "juxtapose/contrast/shuffle" showcases Sybarite5's eclectic influences and roots, as they perform works by Mozart, Radiohead, Stravinsky, Dvorak, Led Zeppelin, Visconti and others.  The intimate environment of the cell theatre will allow the audience the rare chance to view the interactions of this dynamic acoustic ensemble as well as marvel at their performance practice.

Tickets are available at the venue and online at brownpapertickets.com for $10 for students; and $20 for general admission, $48 VIP Reserved seating with Reception.

About the ensemble:

Comprised of Sami Merdinian and Sarah Whitney, violins; Angela Pickett, viola; Laura Metcalf, cello; and Louis Levitt, bass, Sybarite5 has taken audiences around the US by storm. From Radiohead to Mozart, this group of talented, diverse musicians has changed the perception of chamber music performance. From the moment that their bows hit the strings, the audience is taken on a wild ride that engages the senses and redefines the rules.

"If you're looking for a worthy successor to the Kronos Quartet as a small string ensemble pushing the envelope of concert music, count this exciting gang of five as one excellent candidate." -Jon Sobel, Blog Critics Magazine
