PRESENTATION: THE COST ESTIMATOR AND VALUE ENGINEERING
This month's presentation is on the role of the cost estimator as part of the value engineering (VE) process. In particular on how a firm prepares for the estimating role and actively participates in the Information Phase, Function Analysis Phase, Creative Phase, Evaluation Phase, Development Phase and Presentation Phase. Moreover Mr. John Boatman will also share how cost data is sorted and used in the development of cost modeling.
PRESENTER: MR. JOHN BOATMAN
Mr. Boatman has over 23 years of experience in the construction industry spanning cost estimating, PM, CM, consulting, owner representative and design work. Mr. Boatman offers a unique perspective to cost estimating and analysis. He has emphasized his cost estimating skills on projects wide ranging in size, type, and complexity. He has generated cost estimates for various USACE, DOD, public works, and engineering clients as well as independent government estimates. In addition, he has extensive experience with contract documents both in implementation and interpretation.
Since joining MENG Analysis in 2013, he has participated in value engineering, and has led constructability reviews and facility condition assessments for over 100 projects. He has his degree in business and management and certificate in construction management from University of Washington.

COST: The member price for this event is $28.00 if you register before 12:00 Noon on the Monday immediately preceding the meeting; late registration is $33.00. Non-members will be charged $36.00 before 12:00 Noon on the Monday immediately preceding the meeting, and $41.00 thereafter.
REGISTRATION: Please note that registration will be closed Monday March 9th at 8:00 pm.
A very limited of first come first served meals will be available at the door.
MENU: You may order Chicken Diablo, Cilantro-Lime Marinated Halibut with Lemon Salsa Verde, or Vegetarian (requires one week advance notice) dinner. The AACE Seattle Section will be rotating menu selections this program year; we are interested in obtaining your feedback!
