Born A Winner
Irene shares essays about her childhood growing up between Queens, NY and Lexington, MA. Born to Greek immigrants, Irene is the product of an arranged marriage. She recalls growing up with an autistic older brother in the 70's (when autism couldn't speak), and a younger totalitarian sister. When Irene was born (at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston), as immoral as this sounds.. she won a beauty contest. She was presented with a crown and sash. Through out her life when she felt devalued, depressed or like a LOSER...she reminds herself: "Kid, you were born a WINNER! And don't you forget it!!" Also Performing - Aldo Marachlian Born in Uruguay to Armenian & Italian parents, Aldo recalls his childhood as a devilish child being chastised by nuns and growing up in Brooklyn.
