The Power of Three - ft. Scott Kinnison, Don Davis, and Dave Newsam
The Power of Three presents the high energy sound of Scott Kinnison on drums, Don Davis on reeds and David Newsam on guitar. Selections include the music of Miles Davis, Bob
Marley, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Charles Mingus, W.C. Handy and others.
Scott Kinnison, a freelance drummer and educator, was a finalist at the Memphis
International Blues Challenge and winner of the 2013 Drum Fun solo competition, (New
England's largest drum solo competition). Currently Scott is recording and touring with
Vinx's "American Crooner" project.
David Newsam's speciality lies in the classical, Latin and jazz style realms. He has
performed with the likes of Jim Hall, Ed Shaugnessy, Louis Bellson, Clark Terry and Milt
Jackson. In this setting David will be featured on the eight string guitar, (an instrument that
has the bottom three strings of an electric bass, and top five strings of an electric guitar).
David is a professor at Berklee College of Music, lecturer at Dartmouth College, and
instructor at UNH.
Don Davis, one of the regions most diverse horn players, has recorded and performed with
Carla Bley, Marc Black, L.L. Cool J., Davis and Delault, and is a member of the Microscopic
Septet. He is known for his ability to play anything from world music, to freeform jazz, to
blues. Don will be featured on the alto sax, flute and contrabass clarinet.
