ABOUT THE TALENT
Headliner: MARION GRODIN The View, Conan O'Brien Marion started out as a staff writer for the network sitcoms It's a Living and Princesses, was put under contract to Twentieth Century Fox, and later went on to sell six screenplays. Just as she was about to embark on her seventh screenplay, it dawned on her that her father had not lovingly nicknamed her "Mouth" for nothing; she decided it was time to start saying all these funny things she was writing for other people to say. So, for the last decade, she has been one of the hottest comics in the country. A headliner at New York City's top clubs, like Standup NY and Gotham Comedy Club, she has also toured with Linda Ronstadt, opened for Lewis Black, Judy Gold, and Robert Klein, and shared the stage with Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chappelle, Roseanne Barr and Robin Williams. Marion has also been seen on NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and ABC's The View. She also worked as the Charles Grodin Show's comedy producer, making regular appearances on the MSNBC show, as well as conducting comedic celebrity interviews. For two years, Marion also hosted her own radio show for CBS, where her guests included friends like Lisa Lampanelli, Jerry Stiller, Anne Meara, Kyra Sedgewick, and Lewis Black. Marion knows firsthand that laughter is truly the best medicine, having survived breast cancer, divorce, and various addictions, including an inappropriate relationship to Häagen Dazs. Her Memoir, Standing Up: A Memoir of a Funny (Not Always) Life, came out last year.
Host: ALZO SLADE Montreal Just For Laughs Alzo is a Brooklyn based comic from the Dirty South who doesn't like to write about himself in third person but I will because it sounds weird otherwise. Alzo is a cool guy (that's me talking) who looks intimidating but smiles to make people feel like he's non-threatning. He has played several clubs/venues throughout the tri-state area, Los Angeles and Houston. He also performed at (really hustled his way into) the Montreal 'Just For Laughs' comedy festival.
ALSO APPEARING:
BLAIR SOCCI She Devil Comedy Festival is a standup comic from San Juan Capistrano, California. You can find Socci performing standup in clubs and bars all over Manhattan on mostly every night of the week. She has recently participated in the She Devil Comedy Festival, The Devil Cup, and the Brooklyn Comedy Festival alongside several of her favorite comics. She is looking forward to performing in the New Orleans Comedy and Arts Festival and The Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in 2015. Blair is also involved in both the improv and sketch programs at the Upright Citizens Brigade theatre. After graduating from UCLA with a BA in English, she recently earned her Masters of Fine Arts degree in creative writing (fiction) at The New School. Blair has written for xoJane.com, Splitsider.com, Wmag.com, Riviera Magazine, and Volleyball Magazine. Once a month, she co-hosts a popular show, Nacho Bitches, at New York Comedy Club that she co-founded with Corinne Fisher of Guys We F*cked fame. In addition, she co-hosts a weekly show (with her BFF, Farah Brook) on Sunday nights at Hifi Bar called Harriet.
TITO GARZA Tito is a funny person and comedian based in NYC. He has spent years on stage cracking people up with his playful irreverence and unassuming demeanor. From unique takes on current events, to stupid stories about his dumb life, Tito consistently delivers an engaging performance that is never short on punchlines.
