Event
Ancient Rhythms, Modern Voices, Phasing Winds
Phasing double bansuri (North Indian Bamboo Flute) melodies, Hindustani violin, driving percussion, morsings and tabla, cool tones of the Hang, and passionate yet experimental female voices singing traditional original music that is inspired by the musical traditions of Indian, the Balkans, and surrealist, psychedlia!
With special guest Jaysi Chander performing excerpts of her compelling dance-poetry performance Lamps on Lilypads, an original work that fuses traditional Khatak Classical Dance from North India with rhythmic recitations of the tabla language compositions, original and modern classic poetry.
The evening will present two 45 minute sets by vocalists Ariana and Janina interspersed with two shorts sets by Jessica and Jaysi. Dancing/moving to the music is encouraged, as is meditative listening! Aharon will accompany and present original works in collaboration with each of these performers.
