SMCO Season Opener
Continuing the vibrant and energetic standard of performance established in its acclaimed first season, the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra will begin its second season with music by Mozart, Stravinsky, and Beethoven. Mozart's grand Overture to the Magic Flute will be heard, along with Beethoven's seldom-heard masterpiece, the Second Symphony. Filling out the program, Stravinsky's Octet for Wind Instruments looks back to the work of these Classical masters with a distinctly modern charm.
This performance is a part of the Music and Books week of the Arts Crush Festival, and will be held in the PACCAR Pavilion at Olympic Sculpture Park, against the backdrop of downtown Seattle and the Olympic Mountains.
