Dogen: Lost and Found in Translation
Saturday dinner at Greens is SOLD OUT.
THE $10 REGISTRATION FEE GETS YOU INTO ANY AND ALL OF THE EVENTS OVER THE COURSE OF THE WEEKEND, EXCEPT THE GREENS DINNER
November 6 & 7, 2010
We invite you to take part in a diverse gathering of scholars, Zen teachers, translators, authors, and artists in commemorating the publication of the newest edition of Dogen's masterwork intended for use by the general public. Beautifully poetic without sacrificing accuracy, Kazuaki Tanahashi's landmark translation offers the most accessible interpretation of Dogen's philosophical expressions of Zen wisdom available to Western readers.
The forum will feature a distinguished group of students and teachers of Zen including Kazuaki Tanahashi, Peter Levitt, William Bodiford, Steven Heine, Susan Moon, Edward Espe Brown, Brad Warner, and many more. Panel discussions, Q&A sessions, and dharma talks will be enriched by a film screening of "ZEN: The Life of Zen Master Dogen," directed by Bunmei Takahashi, along with an exhibition of Zen calligraphy by Kazuaki Tanahashi, and a shakuhachi (bamboo flute) performance by Masayuki Koga.
Four Bay Area locations will host the two-day celebration; San Francisco Zen Center's City Center and Green Gulch Farm Zen Center, the Fort Mason Conference Center: Golden Gate Room, and Greens Restaurant. You will be asked to specify which events you plan on attending after you purchase your ticket.
The Greens Dinner is a SEPARATE registration fee of $35 and is first come, first served.
