Tommy! The Dreams I Keep Inside Me USA, 2014, 31 minutes Director: Rodrigo Dorfman
Tommy is autistic and 40 years old. He's in a group home, sings in a choir and works at the Goodwill store. This isn't a story of overcoming adversity and despair. This is Tommy living his life to full capacity. No stereotypes here. He's funny, wise and endearing. Very sweet film about an enthusiastic guy who gets a chance to sing Sinatra with a big band and swinging jazz as a bonus.
The Bladesmiths USA, 2014, 11 minutes Directors: Dru Carr & Ken Furrow
Ruana knives are known in the industry as some of the most well crafted blades in America. See the blades and one of a kind handles being made up close, by hand, and exactly as they have been for over 75 years in this family run shop. This is a genuine story of a deep family tradition, rooted in old-fashioned Montana history.
Cast in India USA, India, 2014, 25 minutes Director: Natasha Raheja
The ubiquitous and emblematic manhole covers of New York City display NYC SEWER and MADE IN INDIA both in large font. This is the backstory behind the making of these modern city icons in a primitive factory in India using centuries old sand casting techniques. Told without narrative this film gives a unique and intimate view of a third world factory.
Nae Pasaran UK, 2013, 14 mins Director: Felipe Bustos Sierra
In the small Scottish town of East Kilbride in 1974, factory workers refuse to carry out repairs on Chilean warplane engines in an act of solidarity against the violent military coup in Chile. Three of the former aircraft engine workers reunite for the first time since their retirement to hold their transformed, personal memories up against the cold facts of dusty archive documents. Forty years later, they look back on what was gained and what was lost.
