SANDRA WONG and the THYME QUARTET
Come explore and immerse yourself in the musical worlds of Latin America through the lens of jazz, traditional folk music, Latin and original compositions. Four kindred musicians come together in dynamic combinations of nyckelharpa/fiddle, bass, piano and percussion to explore music from all corners of the globe, including their own compositions. The quartet creates a musical playground for everyone to explore, stretch and grow in a joyful space. Leave all worries behind and come play with the Sandra Wong and the Thyme quartet.
Sandra Wong: Violin/Fiddle, Nyckelharpa
Sandra Wong's musical focus is on connecting people and cultures through music, as a way of building community and expressing our common humanity. Currently, she teaches, performs, records and collaborates with musicians from many musical genres. Sandra discovered a 14th century Swedish folk instrument called the nyckelharpa; a 16 stringed, keyed instrument played with a bow which has become an integral part of her musical expression. Ms. Wong tours world-wide as a solo artist and in collaboration with many musicians. She released two solo albums; "It's About Time" in 1999, and "Joy" in 2000 as well as two collaborative albums; "Frolic and Romp" in 2009 and "Sunny Side Up" in 2010.
