Peanut Butter & The Pen: Food Writing Series for Kids
Our fabulous creative writing workshop for children is back - this time as a 4-part series.
In this first 2-hour class 3rd - 5th graders will use all five senses and plates full of adjectives, metaphors and similes to learn how to write about food. Then, the kids will pair up with a buddy and with a few tips on personification, bring two foods to life by creating a dynamic duo of characters that star in an original tale. Stanley Broccolini and Maude Melon anyone?
Drop off your child with pencil and spiral notebook in hand at 10:00AM, and pick him up at 12:15PM. Everyone will create one-of-a-kind pieces of food writing to bring home.
Workshop leader Sondra Hall, is the Director of "Take My Word For It!" an organization that teaches creative writing to kids in numerous Bay area after school programs and community settings. Sondra, a writer and a parent, created "Take My Word For It!" to provide a safe, supportive environment where kids can swim around in their imaginations and find their writer's voice.
