The Cherdonna & Lou Show in It's A Salon!
Century Ballroom presents The Cherdonna and Lou Show in It's a Salon!, an intimate affair with Seattle (sort of) celebs Cherdonna and Lou. The drag-dance duo hosts an evening of one-way conversations about art, party games, and supernatural moments. Cherdonna is excited to share her new salami recipe, Lou will talk politics, and the twosome will perform their new hit noise band single, Close Your Eyes.
It's drag! It's contemporary dance! It's a Salon!
"Their gender-bending act blends physical humor with expert choreography, the high artifice of drag with everyday life and gut-busting goofiness with real pathos."
-Brangien Davis, Seattle Magazine
The Cherdonna and Lou Show's Cherdonna and Lou:
It was a 1991 guest spot on the "The Merv Griffin Show" that convinced CBS programming head Fred Silverman that Cherdonna and Lou, one of the top touring acts of the seventies, could be the network's next big thing. When The Cherdonna and Lou Show debuted it was an immediate ratings smash. They went on to co-star in the 1967 film St. Elmo's Fire with Demi Moore and Emilio Estevez. They cut their first album, Broken Blossom, in 1982, popularizing the genre soft rock piano. After successfully touring the world, the celebrity duo returned to the States to endorse Gucci's new couture line of Cherdonna and Lou Show tea length batik frock coats, and work on their autobiography.
It's a Salon! is funded by 4Culture and the support of Century Ballroom. Creation of this work was made possible in part by an Artist Trust Grants for Artist Projects (GAP). Find out more at ArtistTrust.org.
