76759: Featuring the House that Herman Built: Herman's House The Film
What kind of house does a man who has lived in a six-foot-by-nine-foot cell for over 30 years dream of? This question propelled artist Jackie Sumell into a remarkable project and friendship with Herman Wallace, a Black Panther activist who spent over 40 years in solitary confinement, longer than anyone in the history of the American penal system. Over 12 years of friendship, Sumell and Wallace imagined Wallace's "dream home", which is the subject of an exhibition at Central Library.
