Heliopolis by Ahmed Abdallah
Director Ahmed Abdallah follows the intersecting lives of several young residents in the neighborhood of Heliopolis in Cairo through the course of one day. As these strangers go about their everyday business, a story unfolds about the frustration and unfulfilled dreams in this sprawling city. The feature film debut from Abdallah captures Cairo's vanishing glory and the shared understanding among its inhabitants that they will face the same struggles day after day.
