Bloedel Reserve Lecture by Langdon Cook
Freelance writer and blogger Langdon Cook left the business world six years ago to pursue his passion for collecting and eating organic food. After leaving his job as senior book editor at Amazon.com, he and his wife and son lived in a cabin "off the grid" and ate "off the land." His blog is an entertaining mix of adventures in food gathering, fishing, and creative recipes. His book, Fat of the Land: Adventures of a 21st Century Forager, was published in 2009.
Langdon writes for a variety of publications including Gray's Sporting Journal, Outside, Fly Fisherman, Northwest Palate, and Seattle Metropolitan, and was recently interviewed in Bon Apetit magazine. Having been part of the dotcom phenomenon, he can say with authority: "In a modern world that is increasingly disconnected from nature, foraging is a path back to some old knowledge." Langdon will share his delight and knowledge of collecting and cooking wild foods!
