Le Butcher (The Butcher)
Mimoun is a middle-aged Arab man running a financially troubled butchery in Paris. He is a staunch pessimist, but nonetheless a respected elder in his community. When Mimoun is given the opportunity to sell his business, he reflects on his choices and wonders if he can leave the place he calls home.
Washam bi al'Ayn (Tattooed Eye)
Ibrahim, 17, lives on the fringes of society. He is a victim of poverty, drug abuse and domestic violence. His frequent spells in prison have made a lasting impression on his life. Sniffer is prey to the same torments and sense of destruction. These two boys collide in one of Lebanon's roughest ghettos, where the dreams of these young people are no more than illusions and the laws of the street deny them hope of escape.
The Shoemaker by Ahd Kamel
Saber, an Iraqi shoemaker, returns to his family after being wrongfully detained by the occupation forces for two years. Buried just beneath the joy of return are dark shadows that have followed him home.
Kidnap Factory
As the sun burns strongly on Baghdad, two mysterious businessmen meet in a bar. At first it seems the two men are simply enjoying the day, but the truth is darker for they have each set up the same deceitful plan for each other.
Maesmak by Georges Salameh
In late 2002, just before the US invasion of Iraq, a Greek traveler, and English doctor and an Iraqi storyteller cross paths int he city of Rutba, Iraq. "Maesmak" is the Arabic phrase for "what is your name?", and this simple question is what brings these three people together.
