Music at Evergreen: Hahn-Bin, violin
A special protégé of the famed Itzhak Perlman, 23-year-old South Korean violinist Hahn-Bin has won critical acclaim for his "extraordinary, intelligent, and beautiful" (The Washington Post) performances and his "inspired, bracing, and innovative" (The New York Times) programs. First Prize Winner of the prestigious Young Concert Artists International Auditions, he made his concerto debut with the Seoul Philharmonic at age ten and shortly thereafter made his international debut at the 42nd Grammy Awards' Salute to Classical Music honoring Isaac Stern. This extraordinary recital by the flamboyantly precocious virtuoso features works by Barbara White, Lutosławski, Cage, Chopin, Saint-Saens, de Falla, Penderecki, Schnittke, Ravel, Debussy, and Sarasate. Hahn-Bin plays an 1825 J. F. Pressenda violin, on loan from the Mandell Collection of Southern California. John Blacklow accompanies on piano. A meet-the-artist tea reception follows the concert.
