WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW: The Bacharach/David Songbook
Purple Phoenix Productions presents a brand new show in their concert series celebrating The Great American Songbook: "WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW: The Bacharach/David Songbook".
Popular vocalists Stacie Calkins, Christine Deaver, Bob DeDea and Kim Maguire will perform nearly 40 songs written by the most chart-successful American songwriting team of the 1960's/1970's in a 2-hour concert, backed by the 9-piece Purple Phoenix Orchestra.
Bacharach and David wrote hit songs for many entertainers, including Tom Jones, Dusty Springfield, The Fifth Dimension,. Herb Alpert, BJ Thomas and The Carpenters, but it was their long-standing association with vocalist Dionne Warwick that kept topping the charts. Among the many hits that will be performed in this concert are "Walk On By", "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head", "Alfie", "Close To You", "Do You Know The Way To San Jose?", "What's New Pussycat?", "One Less Bell To Answer", "I'll Never Fall In Love Again", "Promises, Promises", "Blue On Blue", "Anyone Who Had A Heart" and the title song of the concert, "What The World Needs Now".
