Workshops: Ziah Ali The Infamous Zill Drill Class Class begins with drills to connect feet, hands and arm movement together while playing zils. These drills are useful to integrate into your weekly classes. We will go through breakdown of rhythms and learning appropriate accents within the rhythms to build improvisational skills. All students will be amazed at their zill playing at the end of the workshop. Good workshop for dancers of all disciplines!
Veil Work Components This workshop breaks down all the complexities of working with a veil into easy segments of moves with similar starting points and explores the geometry that creates the designs in the air. Aerodynamics will be discussed, 8 to 9mm silk is recommended for the air foil effect that Ziah employs in order to keep the veil from entangling. An excellent workshop for dancers wanting to create their own unique style of veil work. Stop dragging your silk through the air and let it dance for itself! Good workshop for dancers of all disciplines!
Samira Shuruk Seven Shimmies with Samira (Make Friends With the Jiggle!) Learn classic era Egyptian shimmies, how to layer them, travel with them and where they work best in your favorite music. Samira helps you find your body's best shimmies and which shimmies are "friends" with each other. Includes Samira's Crossover Coaching; how to use this musicality in different styles of the belly dance tree from Vintage Oriental to Raqs Sharqi to tribal fusion. Good workshop for dancers of all disciplines!
Kaitlyn Flamenco Skirtwork Fusion Improve your next Bellydance fusion, ATS or Tribal piece by learning the basic fundamentals of Spanish Flamenco dance! In this workshop you will learn posture, hand and arm movements and basic steps that give Flamenco its strength and its distinctive emotive qualities. You will learn combinations that will also incorporate Gitano inspired skirt work as well as a dash of bellydance. Students will learn a short piece of choreography that blends all these elements, (Flamenco, Bellydance & Skirtwork) together.
