Tucked against the foothills of the Dolomite Moutains in Italy's picturesque region of Alto Adige is Tenuta Alois Lageder. Founded in 1823 by Johann Lageder, winemaking has been a part of the history of the Lagder family for more than 150 years. The principles of holistic thinking and sustainability are integral components of grape growing and winemaking at Lageder, and all of their 50 hectares of vines are cultivated with biodynamic methods. The Alto Adige region offers an enormous variety of sites, exposures, soils and microclimates, and thus the best prerequisites for highly individual wines, marked by distinctive terroir. Work in the vineyards is guided by the cycles and forces of nature, from the initial planting of the grapevines to choosing the right moment for harvest. Urs Vetter, Director of Sales and Marketing for Alois Lageder, will be on hand to guide us through the wines, paired with a special menu crafted by Chefs Mark Sullivan and John Madriaga.
