A NIGHT IN THE THEATRE
We have all been there. Seated at a movie or a play next to the oblivious idiot who opens a bag of goodies with a snapcracklepop that cuts like a knife through your concentration and demolishes dialogue on screen or onstage. "A Night in the Theatre" multiplies that annoyance by 10 in a light comedy about two couples attending a performance of "Hamlet" as a monthly "culture outing" that ends with a bittersweet twist.
Margaret and Stanley Locker and their friends, Donna and Walter Pace, are at the theatre for their monthly dose of culture. After they seat themselves with some confusion, the play consists of their incessant and hilarious chatter about themselves, their children, a dead friend and even occasionally Shakespeare's play. Secrets emerge and friendships unravel amid the audience's laughter. You may even recognize these rude playgoers as the obnoxious people who sometimes sit behind you.
