Appalachian Cinderella presented by Sonoma Conservatory of Dance
Saturday, April 11 Sunday, April 12 1:00PM
The Sebastiani Theatre 476 First Street East Sonoma, CA 95476
With thirty-five youth conservatory dancers, ages 6 to 17, plus two guest adult performers, Appalachian Cinderella takes you back to the age of the roaring '20s and of Prohibition - a time of moonshine, G-men, and dreaming of life in the "Big City."
Set on an idyllic Appalachian farm filled with beautiful buttercups, daisies, and a statuesque sunflower, plus pink piglets, squawking chickens, a sweet coupling of cow & bull, and a long-legged donkey, Appalachian Cinderella tells the tale of Ella-Mae, left alone with her horrid step-mother and step-sisters when her father, Jack Daniels, is carted off to the "Big House" for making hooch. Her only comfort is resourceful Granny.
Treated poorly and excluded by her step-family from a dance given in honor of visiting Jake "Da Prince" Charming, Ella-Mae and Granny find a way for her to attend and shine on the dance floor, capturing first the eye and then the heart of Jake. Although Granny whisks Ella-Mae away from the scene, Jake searches high and low in Deadman's Holler until he finds her and then makes all her dreams come true.
Please note: There is no actual seat where the "wheelchair seat" is located on the seating chart of the theater, so do not purchase any of these seats unless you specifically need a place to park your wheelchair for viewing the show. Thanks!
