VernalUTAH 2015 Storytelling Festival
The VernalUTAH 2015 Storytelling Festival is an event for the entire family! This year's award-winning storytellers are Syd Lieberman and Bill Harley. Mark your calendar for March 5 and 6. Syd Lieberman is an internationally acclaimed storyteller, an author, and an award-winning teacher. Many of his best-loved stories deal with growing up and raising a family in Chicago. He is also known for his original historical pieces and his signature versions of Jewish and literary tales. Syd's work has garnered awards from ALA, Parent's Choice, and Storytelling World. He has taught storytelling at the Kennedy Center and Disney World, and received commissions to write pieces for NASA; the Smithsonian Institution; Historic Philadelphia; Johnstown, Pennsylvania; and the Van Andel Museum Center. Currently, he is creating stories for the US Capitol Visitors Center and teaching their 180 docents and volunteers how to tell stories (quoted from http://www.sydlieberman.com/forthemedia/).
Bill Harley is a two-time Grammy award winning artist and recipient of The Lifetime Achievement Award from the RI Council for the Humanities. Harley uses song and story to paint a vibrant and hilarious picture of growing up schooling and family life. His work spans the generation gap, reminds us of our common humanity and challenges us to be our very best selves. A prolific writer and recording artist, Harley tours nationwide as an author, performing artist, and key note speaker (quoted from http://www.billharley.com/about.asp).
The VernalUTAH Storytelling Festival will include public performances at 7:00PM on March 5 and 6 at the Vernal JR. High. A symposium with the storytellers for local students and teachers will also be available.
