They Call Me Mister Fry (fanaticSalon)
From the cornfields of Indiana to the streets of South Central Los Angeles....
Just recently selected as one of the Best of the Fest from the 2010 Hollywood Fringe Festival (Asylum Theater) where 15 of the best shows out of 176 were asked to extend.
They Call Me Mister Fry is his true-life story teaching 5th grade in South Los Angeles as a first-year teacher told in a theatrical setting and style. It's a funny, poignant story that tells the struggles of a mid-westerner from Indiana dealing with a challenging, multi-ethnic body of students and his journey through the bowels of big city bureaucracy. It focuses on 2 challenging students and how they affected each other's lives. Most importantly, it follows the evolution of "Mr. Fry" into an effective teacher-- who comes to teach, but ends up learning.
