Twelfth Night
Closing African-American Shakespeare Company's 16th season is a swinging take on TWELFTH NIGHT. Filled with music, magic, and mischief, this glorious new production of Shakespeare's most musical comedy gets a sultry, song-filled re-setting in the early 1940s. This clever re-imagining combines Shakespeare's poetry with an original jazz and big band score by renowned Bay Area jazz musician and composer Marcus Shelby and his orchestra, transporting the madcap tale of mismatched lovers, mistaken identities, and melancholy fools to the era of Zoot suits, gangsters, and sultry songstresses.
**THIS EVENT HAS A STRICT REFUND POLICY. No refunds will be processed by Brown Paper Tickets more than 12 hours after the time of purchase without the authorization of the producer.**

Q&A
Question: |
I am a homeschool parent/teacher with students who have just participated in a workshop on Twelfth Night using the "Shakespeare for Kids" series ...I just saw this posted on facebook and got really excited...however, now I read that it is not kid friendly. Our youngest is a mature 8...what do you think? |
Answer: |
Depending upon your child, this production is two hours of a language play. We leave the decision up to the parents whether it is appropriate for their individual child, however do we recommend that youths are middle school age for this performance. Middle school age is when students will typically begin diving into Shakespeare. |
