Our presenter will be Sherrie Ard, who is the Financial Management Specialist for the Washington State Auditor's Office Local Government Performance Center. She works with the Center to provide training, technical assistance and online tools to help local governments improve their performance and effectiveness. Sherrie has been with the State Auditor's Office for nine years and previously worked as Assistant Fraud Manager supervising and conducting complex fraud investigations. She received recognition for her service as an expert witness and trial assistant to the prosecuting attorney. Her past experience also includes serving as Assistant Audit Manager on a local audit team where she both supervised staff and was auditor-in-charge of numerous financial statement, federal compliance and accountability audits of various entity types. In 2008, Sherrie was recognized by the State Auditor's Office with the Director's Achievement Award for her audit work. Sherrie received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with an accounting emphasis from Washington State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner.
