Volti Concert Three
Volti wraps up its 32nd season with an eclectic program of the new and the newer. Anchoring the program are premieres by Elliott Gyger ("voice ... and nothing more") and Matthew Barnson ("Genesis"), this year's winner of Volti's young composer competition. "Gyger reaches deeper and gives more to the listener than most. His compositional style requires that you begin with fresh ears, an open mind, and sharp sensibilities," says Maestro Geary.
Volti will reprise two recent commissions: "Two Billy Collins Songs" by Yu-Hui Chang (premiered last season), and Ruby Fulton's internet-meme meditation "The Ballad of James Parry" (premiered in 2009). Frank Ferko's setting of the timeless Latin of Hildegard von Bingen in his "O Ignis Spiritus Paracliti" completes the program.
