Volti Concert Two
For this concert, Volti will be joined by the award-winning Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir for the world premiere of "Painted Lights," a new piece by Kui Dong for virtuoso children's choir and professional chorus. Also receiving its first performance will be Tamar Diesendruck's setting of brief yet profound texts by Italian modernist poet Giuseppe Ungaretti. Volti will give an encore performance of Ted Hearne's gripping "privilege," which was an immediate audience and critical favorite at its premiere last season. The West Coast premiere of excerpts from Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang's masterful 2009 choral work "battle hymns" -- post-minimalist, deconstructed adaptations of three Stephen Foster songs -- completes this program.
Please note: Online ticketing closes 12 hours before each concert, but tickets will be available for purchase at the door.
