TEA WITH GEORGIE
On October 3 at 2PM, The Admiral Theater is proud to present, Tea with Georgie.
When people talk about National Treasures, one thinks of the Liberty Bell, the Statue of Liberty or perhaps Mount Rushmore. When you think of Seattle, that usually takes the form of the Space Needle. But if you are referencing a person, that certainly applies to one Georgie Bright Kunkel.
Ninety years young, Kunkel has amassed historical status in Seattle. A cross between Joan Rivers and Joan of Arc, Kunkel is featured in Whose Who in America, she was one of the original ÂRosie the Riveters during the war effort and helped to establish Washington State's first Chapter of National Organization of Women. She also holds the record of being the oldest person in Seattle to ever headline at the Comedy Underground! She says she's the oldest stand-up comic who can still stand up.
An author of 3 books, she's still an active columnist for the West Seattle Herald and other periodicals.
The stories she tells are not only incredibly amusing, but shes a walking historian on what Washington State was like for women growing up almost 100 years ago.
Whether its politics or pot roast, feminism or fashion, you'll laugh, you'll probably cry but you will never forget an afternoon spent with Georgie Kunkel. For more information head over to our web site.
