Eastern Bloc Party Music
Time for some of that Shaolin iron-liver training, cause this Eastern European party will test your limits of dancing, drinking and partying! Fresh off his DJ sets at Burning Man, DJ Joro Boro is known for his intense mash-ups of Balkan horns, accordions and songs with blazing drum 'n bass beats. His music laid the groundwork for the New York gypsy music of Gogol Bordello and Balkan Beat Box, and has fueled many all-night parties in New York's Bulgarian and Balkan immigrant communities (and hipsters). He'll be joined by master Romanian fiddler Lache Cercel and his Roma Swing Ensemble and Seattle's premier Balkan party band, The Bucharest Drinking Team.

DJ Joro Boro: Bulgarian Etnotek
Former resident of the legendary Mehanata Bulgarian Bar in New York, Joro-Boro plays and promotes etnoteck - the dirty and uninhibited side of globalization as a forced feed back into a party without borders, a three-day Balkan wedding in a post-national state where noise, bass and desire detonate the conglomerate monoculture. He is a monthly host of MoGlo (Modern Global) on Radio New York (KEXP), has toured with Balkan Beat Box, and has performed with artists ranging from Bassnectar to Tinariwen.
Lache Cercel & The Roma Swing Ensemble
Lache Cercel was one of the finest violinists in Romania before he left his home country to emigrate to Western Canada. Now living in British Columbia, he has absorbed the cosmopolitan nfluences of Vancouver's urban streets, and mixed his new love for jazz and swing with the red-hot blazing fiddling so commonly associated with Romanian's Roma (Gypsy) communities. Lache's band blends the swing of Vancouver's black-tie jazz clubs with technically dazzling Balkan folk music in a range of difficult time signatures. It's a fresh, new sound from our Northern neighbors and a chance to dance to some of the smoothest Balkan music you've ever heard.
Bucharest Drinking Team
The Bucharest Drinking Team isn't just a professional competitive liquor disposal club. It's also an ensemble of fine musicians, with high-proof, anise-scented dance tunes specially distilled for your Eastern Bloc party. The first-string vocal squad is backed by a traditional Romanian taraf midfield team and an impenetrable brass defense line. From its eastern-European home field, the team's musical repertory also travels to exhibition tunes from other drinking leagues in Europe and North America.
