March Winds
Occidental Center for the Arts is pleased to present a BENEFIT concert entitled March Winds, featuring many of Sonoma County's premier wind instrumentalists in two groups. Coastal Winds: Valerie White-flute; Daniel Celidore- oboe; Jeff Chan- clarinet, Miranda Kincaid- bassoon, and John Lounsbery- horn, will play a number of pieces including Quintet Opus 43 by Carl Nielsen, Walking Tune by Percy Grainger, Three Shanties by Malcom Arnold, and a March by John Barrows. They will also give the first public performance of a new work by local composer and teacher (Dominican College, Napa Valley Junior College) Mazdak Khamda entitled Variations on Grainger's Walking Tune. The second half of the concert will feature a brass quintet, The Fifth Avenue Brass, which is comprised of : Tom Hyde- trumpet, Dave Lindgren- trumpet, John Lounsbery-horn, Gary Piner- trombone, and Gary Meierhenry- tuba.
