NW Community Media Summit & Awards 2015: Stronger Together
We're stronger together. For the first time, we're convening a summit for community media makers, advocates, students, and scholars; a space for discussing policy issues, forging partnerships, and exploring new models for content, community engagement, fundraising, and infrastructure. We're also inviting libraries and parks and recreation - natural partners with community media.
What is community media? To borrow a concept from Zane Ibrahim, founder of Bush Radio in South Africa, community radio is "90% community and 10% radio." While Ibrahim referred specifically to radio, the concept can be applied to any media platform; be it television, radio, print, online news, podcast, blog, or independent producers.
